According to a Save the Student survey in 2014, the average student predicted they would spend roughly £170 over the Christmas period — this figure included buying presents for friends and family as well as spending money for festive get-togethers.
With the price of Christmas on the rise, many students find themselves stressed and worried with the added financial pressures of the festive season, and in 2014, 77% of students admitted that they struggled to make ends meet over Christmas.
