Student House Essentials for Your Room
When you first move into your new student room, one thing you’ll need to ensure you have from the get-go is a good set of bedding and sheets. Most student homes come furnished with a bed frame and a mattress, which means you will need to bring your own duvet, bed sheets and duvet covers. And don’t forget your pillows! Of course one of our top tips is to bring more than one set of sheets and duvet covers, this way you can always have one ready to go when you get around to washing your current bedding.
Another essential item for your student home is towels. Both full-body towels and hand towels. There will be nothing worse than stepping out of your new shower and the realisation dawning on you that you forgot to bring a towel. Hand towels are also essential for both your bathroom and kitchen, so bring a few!
Furnish Your Room with Home Comforts
An important part of studying and being a student at Loughborough University is the ability to switch off from the academic side of university life. Make sure you bring your choice of entertainment, whether this is a selection of books you’ve been meaning to read or a video games console, it’s up to you. These are items that also offer up the chance of conversation with your housemates who may be interested in what you’re reading or playing.
Student House Essentials for the Kitchen
All of our student homes come furnished with standard kitchen appliances, from kettles to ovens, you can expect to find them in an Andrew Chell home. This does mean you will need to bring a few bits with you when the move-in day comes around.
Cups, plates & bowls, cutlery (including kitchen knives) and glasses are all items you should expect to have to bring your own. This isn’t where the list stops, however. You need to consider how you will be cooking your meals and remember to make note of ensuring you bring frying pans, saucepans, measuring utensils and similar in order to make cooking as easy as possible. This may sound like a lot to not only remember but also store, because it is, which is why we would recommend spending some money on some storage solutions. Whether these are dividers for your drawers and cupboards, or reusable meal prep boxes, they will help you remain organised and tidy.

General Student House Essentials
Now, these are items that if you don’t already own you could go halves with your housemates in order to spread the cost. Something to consider when looking for a potential student house for the next academic year is whether the house is fitted with the appropriate safety measures. Items such as smoke alarms and carbonmonoxide alarms are incredibly important things to have installed in your home but you would be surprised at how many either have faulty ones or are not even installed with any. All of our homes here at Andrew Chell are fitted with the appropriate safety measures, including smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms, so you can roam around your student house with no worries other than the impending course deadlines.
You should also bear in mind that not all student homes come with things such as ironing boards or irons. While you may be used to your parents doing your ironing before, university is a great time to learn how to do just this. The first step is to find out whether you have one of course. Outside of the box Student House Essentials
With regard to our student homes in Loughborough, you may want to factor in how far away from campus and popular destinations you are such as supermarkets. Our solution for this is a bike. If you already own one you will save yourself so much money by not having to use public transport to get around the town.
Of course, our other solution is to get a student home in Loughborough’s Golden Triangle. Ideally located almost equidistance between the main campus and the town centre. But you have to be quick to get a home in this area, which is why we recommend you get in touch as soon as possible.
